About This Project

I have never written a line of code before this website. I started this because i feel there is a lack of practical resources for Finnish and Finno-Ugric languages, particularly the colloquial and spoken forms, which is what you need if you're travelling to Finland, or want to be fluent. The long-term goal is to turn this into a proper space for documenting and sharing these languages and dialects.

Finnish is genuinely unlike most other languages. It's strange and difficult, but it's worth the effort. This site is my attempt to make practising it a little more enjoyable.

It's still a work in progress and probably always will be. I'm planning to add more grammar material, expand the vocabulary lists, and eventually make a proper mobile version.

If there’s something you’d like to see here that isn’t currently available, please reach out via the contact form. (Please do not make very complicated requests - or do; maybe it will test my skills :D)

This started as a coding experiment, so you may run into bugs. If something breaks, or you think it shouldn't do what it's doing, let me know through the contact page and I'll look into it.

The site uses basic cookies to count visits and log general things like country and device type. It helps me understand how the site is being used to update it. No personal data is collected, and nothing you do here is tracked beyond this page. It is also nice to see how many people view my site :)
